Christina Moody - Jordye Bacon Elementary School
After graduating from high school, I married my husband, Charles. Getting an education beyond high school was never enforced in my home. Together, my husband and I began our lives with a new daughter. After staying home with my daughter for two years, I decided to go to college. I noticed I had a real knack for teaching things to my daughter, my nieces and nephews. It became clear to me that teaching was my “happy place”. My first greatest contribution to education was a personal one. I broke the cycle of my family’s ideas on education. I taught my daughter that education was not optional. The second contribution I have made to education is my ability to collaborate with other teachers I work with. It is my belief that collaboration is essential when you seek student mastery. I take great pleasure in helping a struggling student. I get that same feeling of accomplishment when I share a teaching idea with another teacher and he/she uses it.
