Suzanne Harris - Joseph Martin Elementary School

Inside my mother’s coffee table drawer is a paper I wrote in elementary school. The teacher had us write about what we wanted to be when we grew up and I wrote that I wanted to be a teacher. By the time I was completing high school my mind was made up; I wanted to teach! Little did I know it would take fifteen years to reach my goal. Through a marriage, two children, military moves, and a difficult time in my life I finally did it!

My greatest accomplishment in education before anything else is providing the help students need to succeed in school. I believe every child can learn and if we have services to help the child succeed, they need to be used and be used quickly. I feel that I contribute my heart to education. I have had students from many socio-economic levels and a variety of ethnicities. My students have been at almost every learning level, from the Special Education Department and EIP (Early Intervention Program) to the Gifted and Talented students. I treat all of my students and parents with respect.
