Matthew Anderson - Frank Long Elementary School

I decided to become a teacher because of the elation that is created when a child is overjoyed because they have been successful academically for the first time. It is overwhelming to know that I have been a part of that success and have impacted a child’s future. Being able to teach a child a skill or concept and then have the student be able to apply what you have taught them in a different setting is invaluable.

One of my greatest achievements was when a former student who struggled in my class came back to see me after graduating high school class valedictorian. I believe that all students can learn. Although students learn at different levels, paces, and various ways, every child can and will learn with goals, high expectations, and support from people who believe in them. I also feel very strongly that the path to academic success for students is through the school and the classroom environment.
